This is a hidden gem. You enter and it looks like a little fast-eat pizza shop, but the back door opens up to an old school classical and intimate nyc italian restaurant. I ordered the chicken francese with linguini which was so tender and juicy and sauce was cooked to perfection (mind you this is one of my favorite dishes ever- hard critic) and fried calamari which was also great. Staff was super attentive.

Classic Italian dining room. Where time stood still from the moment when the dishes on the menu were classics, the service was excellent and the food delicious. Keeping that level for so many years is an achievement that should be rewarded with a visit.

Great food at reasonable prices. We often get delivery but sometimes eat in. The service is warm and friendly. The food is great. Classic dishes. They make a wonderful eggplant parm and a fantastic past w pesto sauce.

This review is long overdue. I've been going to Franks on First for years. This is my FAVORITE pizza in NYC! I try slices from different places all the time and Franks on First IS THE BEST! I've had many other items from their regular menu as well. Always delicious! I also love the fact that the original owners wife STILL works there. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. I've never waited a long time for take out, delivery or dining in. HIGHLY recommend!

Been eating here all my life. Always a solid slice even if their prices have inflated in recent years due to inflation. True Sicilian New York Pizzeria.

Not trendy but good solid Italian. Reasonable prices . Good service. Been going for years. Not many places you can get chicken still on the bone which is much more tasty and authentic than the dreaded chicken breast that - for some reason- folks prefer. (Take a tofu block leave it out till it dries and you end up with the flavor of dreaded chicken breast.) Chicken Scarpierella on the bone; veal chop in marsala mushroom sauce on the bone, osso bucco on the bone. Sauces are done well! If you don't see exactly what you want on menu, they will likely make it for you. I miss the cookies that served at the end though.

Tonight’s dinner sent me back ten years to simpler times: impeccable service, large portions, and great food. Come to Franks Trattoria for excellent offerings. The pizza was divine

We order from here often and occasionally eat in the restaurant. It is great, classic, "red sauce" Italian food. Consistently good, friendly and fast service, and always hits the spot. We love the pasta with pesto sauce, eggplant parm, & penne vodka. But really you can't go wrong with anything you get.
